The Mandalorian Season 2 Trailer Watch Here

He’s back! I refer, of course, not to the titular hero of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, but the actual star of the show: Baby Yoda. Or rather, “The Child” as he’s annoyingly called on official merchandise. Whatever his name, though, the adorable little future Jedi master who stole all our hearts last year has finally returned in the first trailer for The Mandalorian Season 2.

The teaser for the Star Wars series dropped today, showing off the first footage from the October debuting season. Unlike many productions running right now, according to Lucasfilm’s President Kathleen Kennedy the Jon Favreau headed production wrapped just in time. Specifically, five days before filming started shutting down left and right. After that, Season 2 headed right into post-production with ILM, in order to be ready for the October debut date on Disney+.

In case you’ve forgotten where things left off in Season 1, Mando (Pedro Pascal) and The Child (Baby Yoda) had evaded the series’ newly revealed Big Bad, Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). They left behind their allies to go find out more about the cute little green guy’s origins — not knowing that Gideon was hot on their tail, sporting a Darksaber, a weapon with some deep ties to Star Wars continuity.

Season 2 of the hit, Emmy-nominated series has been mostly mum on official info before now, though we know that episodes will be directed by Dave Filoni (who directed on Season 1), Ant-Man director Peyton Reed, Robert Rodriguez, and Season 1 star Carl Weathers, making his directing debut. We also know that the second season will bring on some big guest stars, most notably Temuera Morrison, who will be playing the (previously) most famous Mandalorian of all time: Boba Fett. Or possibly someone wearing Boba Fett’s armor, since last we saw the bounty hunter he was being digested at the beginning of Return of the Jedi.

Also joining the cast are Katee Sackhoff as Clone Wars character Bo-Katan, Rosario Dawson as Clone Wars‘ Ahsoka Tano, and Timothy Olyphant as, most likely, a Timothy Olyphant type.

But most importantly, the new footage finally helps us deal with the horrific drought of Baby Yoda gifs we’ve been dealing with for nearly a year. Here’s him “nope”ing his way out of a fight between Mando and a bunch of thugs at some sort of fighting arena, and honestly, it just feels so good to have our little baby boy back in action:
