Lorraine Bracco Will Renovate $1 Italian Home in New HGTV Show

Lorraine Bracco is getting back to her Italian roots. The Sopranos actress is set to star in a new HGTV reality series titled My Big Italian Adventure, which will follow Bracco as she renovates a $1 home she purchased in Sambuca, a village in Italy that’s been selling properties for only one euro in an effort to revitalize the rural community, People reports.

As part of the one-euro program, the mayor of the village requires that each home purchased be renovated within three years. My Big Italian Adventure will document Bracco’s home improvement journey as she works to make her new space her own. “I believe life is an adventure,” Bracco said in a press release today. “When I saw the article that you could buy a house in Sambuca for one euro, I jumped on it. So, I came on the plane. I bought the house. I’m very excited to be here, meet and work with the locals, and live amongst them. I’m here to pay homage to my family that comes from Sicily.”

There’s plenty to work on in the new home — according to HGTV, Bracco’s place has no running water, kitchen, or bathrooms, and needs to be gutted because of its deteriorating floors, crumbling walls and dilapidated roof. “This is a huge undertaking,” Bracco said. “I’m not a contractor. I’m not a decorator. I’m an actress. I’ve never done this before. I have no idea what I’m really getting into! It’s a lot of work, but everything is possible. I believe that. And for one euro, we’ll see!”

Thankfully, she’s got some help along the way. Bracco is enlisting in the skills of her contractor, Piero, her translator, Cynthia, friends visiting from America and of course, her new neighbors in the community of Sambuca.

Watch Bracco’s dramatic home transformation when My Big Italian Adventure premieres on HGTV Oct. 30 at 9/8c.
